For European Academic Heritage Day 2024 – Monday 18 November – we are organising two activities from 18- 22 November: an online campaign through Instagram and Facebook, and an online get together on Friday the 22nd of November to discuss your social media entries.

The Theme

To celebrate European Academic Heritage Day 2024, we ask you to demonstrate the richness and diversity of our collections, by reflecting on the theme of “Sensation”.

You can either interpret the theme literally or metaphorically: let your inspiration run free!

How to join?

Choose one object and its photograph or video (of up to 1 min length) and write a short story about it (no more than 60 words for each). Share with us how the object relates to the theme, why you chose this one from your collection or which stories come with the object. Just stay within the theme!

Please post this on Instagram in the week at any time during the week ending 22 November, with the hashtag #AcademicHeritageDay2024 together with the Universeum handle:

The campaign starts on the morning of 18 November and ends on the evening of 22 November 2024. It would be great if there would be a growing number of entries during the week leading up to 22 November.

Online Meeting

On Friday 22 November, at 14:00 Central European Time, we invite all participants for an online meeting to give a short talk about their entries for the #AcademicHeritageDay2024 campaign. Registration is not required for this event.

Please feel free to also invite colleagues, students, and visitors to take part in this campaign. There is no limit to the number of entries per institution or person. If you don’t have an Instagram or Twitter account and don’t have access to someone who does, please email your entry to us at contact(at)universeum-network.eu before 18 November, and we will share it on our socials for you.
