The journal "MUSEA" is published as open access and peer-reviewed research journal focusing on the broad field of museology studies, museum practice and audiences. It is published annually and aims at deepening the discourse in the field of museology by advancing theoretical and practical debates. It acts from the presumption of General Museology as integrative and transdisciplinary field of studies focusing cultural heritage in its historical, theoretical and practical dimension. Moreover, it aims to promote the development of theory in the field, to open up innovative, practice-oriented fields of application by addressing the museum audience effectively. Thereby it draws the bow by linking to the field of critical heritage studies and focusing on projects of university museums and collections.

MUSEA is edited at the University of Graz, in cooperation with the institute of History of the University of Graz, the Universitymuseums of the University of Graz and The seventh faculty: Center for Society, Knowledge and Communication of the University of Graz.
