University museums and collections - Challenges of the past, responsibilities for today
UNIVERSEUM European Academic Heritage Network
Proceedings of the 22nd Universeum Conference in Belgium, 3-8 July, edited by students on the Cultural Management Masters course.
The publication is the culmination of 4 years' work and the fruit of a group of 6 students on the Cultural Management cursus. It is the proceedings of the annual Universeum conference held in Belgium from 3 to 8 July 2022. Organised by ULB and KU Leuven, the conference travelled between Brussels, Mons, Leuven and Ghent. This book begins by highlighting the various Belgian collections and museums. It then addresses the points discussed during the conference: the challenges of the past and the current responsibilities facing University heritage, the accessibility of scientific culture and the production of knowledge within museum structures. The book also presents the results of the workshop organised around the research of provenance of colonial specimens from scientific collections at ULB. Finally, posters of the conference are also included with a commentary from their respective author.
